Tech Stack
Times have changed. The stack that matters most now is the environment I run agents from. It all lives in my dotfiles
Dev Environment
Herdr is always open on my laptop as the orchestrator. Pi runs in every workspace, on the laptop and on a remote dev machine that never closes, so I can keep coding when I'm out. Tailscale ties them together with my phone.
A machine at home that stays open, so I can code from anywhere. Agents run directly on it, and it shows up in the laptop's Herdr as its own machine.
Collie is a mobile client for Herdr. Its web app is saved to my home screen, so I can check on and steer agents from anywhere.
Skills
Reusable instructions the agent loads only when needed
- worktreeSpawns an isolated git worktree as a Herdr workspace with a fresh worker
- artifactTurns an answer or report into a polished standalone HTML page
- send-to-phoneUploads a file to Nextcloud so I can read it away from the desk
- browser-useDrives a real browser for logins, forms and multi-step web tasks
- council-modeConvenes a bounded panel of advisors to debate a decision
- remove-dumb-commentsFlags comments that restate the code and removes approved ones
Extensions
Small TypeScript extensions that shape the Pi session
- usage-statusFooter showing model, context use and 5h/7d quota per provider
- quota-cacheSingle-writer quota cache with per-provider TTLs and stale warnings
- herdr-agent-stateReports agent state to Herdr so panes show what each agent is doing
- worktree-watcher-statusFooter status for background watchers spawned by the worktree skill
- session-renameKeeps sessions named so they stay findable
- artifact-commandThe /artifact command behind the artifact skill
Dotfiles & Environment
One portable cockpit for every machine
- dotfilesinstall.sh with dry-run and backups; macOS-first, Linux-safe baseline
- Zsh + AntigenShell setup with the dst theme and a fixed plugin set
- ZedEditor preferences, for the moments I still read code myself
- Tailscale SSHTailnet access to my own boxes, used by skills like send-to-phone
- ripgrep, fd, fzf, bat, zoxideCLI baseline from a reviewed Brewfile
- gh, jq, uv, pnpmThe rest of the day-to-day toolbelt
Home Server
Self-hosted services on a Proxmox box at home
- ProxmoxThe hypervisor everything else runs on
- NextcloudFiles and sync; also where my agents drop documents for my phone
- ImmichPhotos and videos, much nicer than Nextcloud for browsing images
- Home AssistantHome automation
- Hermes AgentAn agent that lives on the server
- Minecraft serverGame server
